Wow you guys are awesome for doing this and seem to really know what your talking about, I'd love to get your guys opinions right now, but I have a tournament from sunday through saturday, I will be back and posting though. For now though, just so I can look around before I get your final opinions, if I'm gonna be traveling back and fourth between my moms and dads alot (I have a 5 year old laptop, works ok), would a nice new laptop even compare to a custom built computer, $1500 budget, this is for video/graphic editing and rendering. Thanks SOOOOO much!

Hey, could you recommend an upgrade for a friend? All he need is a graphics card, preferably between 50-75 GBP that can run minecraft on max settings no lag and maybe call of duty.
His specs:
2 x Intel Xeon processor E5472
4gb ram
1000 watt PSU (not sure of the brand)
Dell mobo model 0RW199

This will do everything you want and more. It also gives you a stellar upgrade path. Not much to say about this build except that you should read up on your RAM, it'll take a little tweaking to get running at full speed. Easy stuff that makes this kit unbeatable for the price. As always, if you want me to adjust in in any way, just tell me!

Did somebody say... Thinkpad? Oh wait, that was me.

What size do you want? For those kinds of tasks I'd want dual hard drives, one SSD and one HDD for a ton of capacity and crazy speeds. You could definitely get the X230, but it only has one 7mm hard drive bay. If you're looking for something small, though, there's nothing better. You can get whatever you want, really. Just need to narrow it down for you. The T530, T430, and W530 will all fit the bill for you for a powerful laptop that will last.

I recommend Thinkpads is because of their superior battery life, build quality, durability, longevity, customizability, input options, screens, performance, heat management, upgrade-ability, community, and user service-ability.

Wait... So you didn't realize what this was before you posted? Did you even read the OP?

I included some great video tutorials and a link to iThorHD's thread that will help you understand the components and build process. It's easy and pays off, big time.

Hey guys, just thought you might like to know something. I just placed the orders for this system. If it's not listed, I don't need it, already have it, or will be buying it later.

~$1000 after promo codes and Newegg gift cards

This is my first build for myself. I've never owned a desktop PC, and it was time for a change. I'll be doing a build log for this, modding the case with a large acrylic side-window, a white painted interior, custom-sleeved PSU cables (possibly by me), and overclocking the snot out of it! I expect the parts by the end of the week at the latest, I'll be posting updates!

You simply cannot fathom how excited I am. Can't wait to play with Overclocker, Generation, Intel_2500K, ZimMeisterFlash, and -PhAZeD-! BYE BYE CONSOLE GAMING!!!!!!
