Microsoft and Epic Games will debut a new Gears of War title at E3 next week. The sequel -- which was not identified by name in Game Informer's cover story reveal -- appears to be set on Sera, star COG soldiers, and a mysterious man in handcuffs.
We don't know anyone like that, do we?
The background of the debut imagery features familiar flying enemies as well, indicating the Locusts are indeed returning. The Gears universe has a rich history, which you can read all about in our Gears of War Wiki, so there's plenty to speculate about here.
Is this a prequel, perhaps during the Pendulum Wars leading into Marcus Fenix's inevitable arrest? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to tune into IGN for Microsoft's E3 press conference Monday, June 4 at 9:30am PDT.

This is good news seeing as GoW 3 is getting boring, and new edition to the series will hopefully reignite the franchises flame!

You mean keep the franchises flame burning?
The Gears franchise never really died, there are tons of people spread out between gears 1, 2, and 3.
But, I hope Gears 4 (or whatever they'll name it) brings some of the attention back to this game and off of bland halo and CoD.

GoW isnt very fun like it used to be. I used to play it every day, now CoD has taken over.

Griffen is to small compared to the unnamed in the picture. Personally I think it's Marcus as he is being sent to prison. The background I doubt it's Jacinto. Could be ther first city they used the hammer of dawns on.

I like that theres another gears but what pisses me off is that companies cant make up their mind. Halo series: halo 3 last game everyone ok. BLAM have more halo games and what the hell well let a different company make halo 4.
