Hi TTG,

I have a question. I just recently bought a GTX550TI Graphics card that comes with two DVI ports. The monitor that I have only has a Display port, not DVI nor VGA. I was wondering, do you hve to plug you monitor into the graphics card's display ports to take advantage of the graphics processing? Or can I use the display port on my motherboard and use the graphics from the GPU?

Thanks!

You have to plug in the DVI cable for example to enable the video card and it's processing, yes. If you plug it in straight into your MOBO, you'll be using on-board graphics and the 550ti will be just sitting there. A simple Newegg search brought up a simple DVI to full size DP connector.

And that's strange your monitor has only DP, is it some new PLS monitor by any chance?
