Error avoided. Please close this topic.

Anybody who can help me with this issue will receive a minimum +200 Rep reward. I'm afraid that is all I have to offer.

A few days ago, I was attempting to install codecs to use VirtualDub for my recorded PC clips, I ended up installing the DivX codec, then uninstalled it, then installed a "K-Lite" codec pack, and uninstalled it. Now, whenever I open up a clip in Vegas, I see this. (No matter WHAT format the video is in.)

I open the clip in After Effects, and it looks just fine.

I have re-installed Vegas.
I have no system restore point to back up to.
I cannot reformat, as I have many important files on this computer.
I have tried Google searching for a fix for about two days now, with no success.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've never come across that green preview screen before?

This probably won't help but could this be the problem?

I doubt it is, but worth a look.

I have never come across this before but get a sony vegas Desktop icon, press 'FN' and double click the icon, this will give you the option to reset the whole programme to default settings.

Hope this helped.

It was already unselected.

@Sycorax,

I don't have an "FN" button on my keyboard.

My bad, was stupid enough to not even look at the image to find out myself.

Expanding on from @Sycorax's idea.

Hold down Ctrl-Shift when opening Sony Vegas and it should reset mosts settings to default.

If all else fails, just download and install Sony Vegas Pro 10c. It is the only version of Sony Vegas 10 that is crackable and should work for you fine. I use that instead of 11.

I used to use 10, I'll try re-downloading that, and I'll post back with results.

You could try doing this?

1. Go in and press Alt-D wait 0.5 seconds and press D again while still holding Alt
2. Options>Preferences and then at the bottom you'll see "Default All" click that

Not entirely sure if that's the same method as mentioned above.

That didn't work, either.

I have installed Vegas 10, and it seems to be working.

I'll keep fighting to get Vegas 11 to work at a later date, but it looks like I'm stuck with 10 for now. I'll give you +50 for your troubles, and the +200 to Negate.
