So I used to play Xbox, live 4 months ago just before I got Console Banned, I'm going to purchase another Xbox within the next month or so. My friend used to have a Black Magic for recording and it was great quality and he picked it up second hand for 70, he sold it for 100 when he was re-making his Gaming PC and now he says it is not as good as the HD PVR because it is easier to use.

I gathered that they are both in the same price range so I'm wondering on what to get, I don't like watching comparison video's because most of the games are like racing games and stuff like that. Has anyone had hands on experience with both of these recording devices and could give me a opinion on which to get?

My Gaming PC will be able to run both of them easily and on the best settings.

HD PVR, with Black Magic you need a much better pc, HD PVR is great on every computer except for 512MB Ram computers

Black magic is better quality, but HDpvr's are much easier to use and still are amazing quality.

Black Magic: Intensity Pro, Shuttle, and Extreme are all better than a Hauppage HD PVR quality wise. They do require an open PCI slot in your computer and are more difficult to set up. The Hauppage HD PVR gives you good hd quality, and is way easier to setup.

I have a powerful computer and around 3 slots left in on the motherboard. Thinking about what to get, Black Magic would be good cable management wise and wouldn't be a small box just a cable.
