Dead Island is a first-person survival horror made by Techland and published by Deep Silver for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is centered on the challenge of surviving a zombie-infested open world island with a major emphasis on melee combat. It was originally announced at E3 2006. but was pushed back to 2011. It was released on September 6, 2011 in North America and September 9, 2011.

Dead Island combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to four players in co-op mode.

Set in an open world tropical island, hordes of different festering zombies await players around every corner while they embark on a variety of thrilling missions through the holiday resort. With firearms and ammunition being scarce the player must rely on utilizing found items as weapons for self-defense and fight off zombie hordes in intense melee combat. A diverse range of items can be collected and will later serve to transform the players ordinary makeshift weapons into serious instruments of destruction.

In addition to satisfying even the most bloodthirsty action fans fantasy, Dead Island also features role-playing elements which allow the player to develop one of the games unique character classes according to their preferences, all the while learning new skills and fresh tactics during their journey through the perilous environments of the island. Whats more, anytime during a game up to four players can seamlessly join together and experience the intense combat and immersive story with cooperative gameplay.

With the all-new Chrome Engine 5 powering Dead Island, the game will use the latest installment of Techlands acclaimed proprietary game engine, allowing the player to experience the tropical island paradise in graphical splendor with diverse environments like lush forests and detailed city environments.

Introduction to the story

The island of Banoi is a lush, tropical paradise in the South Pacific where its flagship Royal Palms Resort serves as the ultimate getaway for vacationers with money to burn. However, all good things must soon come to an end and the picturesque resort falls into madness, carnage and chaos after a mysterious and contagious zombie outbreak claims its once peaceful atmosphere. Cut off from the rest of the world, only four individuals who strangely find themselves immune to zombification have the power to protect the remaining survivors from the horrors of the island, to discover whats really going on and find a way to escape before their own fatal ends.

Walkers -

Walkers comprise a large percentage of the zombie populace, and although they are
mostly cannon fodder, the real danger lies in their numbers and their durability.

Thug -

This slow, hulking zombie swings his thick arms with reckless abandon whenever you are within reach. One hit will send you flying far back, so it's best to stay away from the Thug's arms. Ideally, he should be disposed of with powerful weapons, from a distance, or with explosives.

Suicider -

This zombie is a pusutle / blister ridden monstrosity who explodes like a bomb when it gets close. It is slower than Walkers that lurch, and they can be outrun in all but the rarest circumstances. The first suicicder is found when Sinamoi gives you a quest to find a helicopter crash.

Ram -

With its arms locked inside a strait jacket, the Ram relies on its shiny dome to inflict damage. Once you are within attack distance, the Ram sets a one-way path of destruction as it charges straight at you with full speed
