According to the organization MW3 Blackout, players are trying to blackout the Call of Duty servers by not playing the game on April 20th, 2012. The reason is apparently to try and get Activision and Infinity Ward to realize and take some action on the various grievances in the community.

The news started to spread over their Twitter, and now various graphics, YouTube videos, and more have been created to get the word out. Fixes that the organizers would like to see are many and varied, and GDN has compiled a list:

Lag Compensation
Matchmaking options which include the ability to enable, disable local search and base search off the party leader when playing with friends.
Changes to the broken [sic] spawn system
Full-featured theater mode including volume controls in options
Tac insert removed from kill confirmed
More hardcore game modes
Better Elite playlist options
Objective stats on in-game scoreboards
Akimbo machine pistol nerf
Removal of any assault killstreaks from the support package
Removal of deathstreaks
Fix LAN settings for competitive events
As you can see, there are a lot of fixes on here, and many of them have been discussed by IW in the past, but nothing has been ultimately done about them. Whether or not any of this will work remains to be seen, but I would think that IW does not really care how many people play the game, especially since they already bought it and they made the profit. If people boycotted sales of the game itself it may be more effective, but this late in the games release it is probably too late.

What do you guys think about all of this? Will you be participating in the blackout, or will you just play the game regardless?

Couldn't really care less. I haven't played MW3 since a few weeks after it came out. This is by far the worst CoD ever made. They made things far too complicated. I would love, however, if they made the next CoD like World At War or CoD 4, then I would start playing it again
