I would want to do some hardcore gaming, but also I would be browsing the Internet, and listening to music.
What all would I have to buy?
My budget is $2,600

Check out Newegg for some items, and you dont need all of the 2.6k for a good computer you can spend like 1000 to 1,100 for a godmode computer just with the right parts

Do you know of any top products that I could buy? And do you just buy any part and put it together? Or does it have to be certain parts to make them all fit together?

Just about everything for a computer is certain to a different part. You can't just go to Walmart, buy this and that, and put it together, it simply won't work.
Take a CPU for example. They have sockets, or in other words how the pins line up. Here's a image I found that demonstrates it quite well:
All you have to look at is the number, that tells you what socket it is. You can see how 1366 is bigger than 775 and also how the pins are lined up in a different way. You can see that 775 has 99% of the surface area covered, while 1366 doesn't.
Fun fact: 1366 is used on Core i7 CPUs; 775 is used on a variety of older out-of-date CPUs, ranging from Celeron to Core2 Quad. So i7 does way more computing, so it needs more room to store all its various transistors.

Just to you know what LGA means:
Intel's sockets are called "LGA" (Land Grid Array)(Pins are on motherboard)

AMD's sockets are called "PGA" (Pin Grid Array)(Pins are on CPU)

Intel is geared more towards performance, while AMD is for lower price.
To answer your question: Intel.
