About The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror television series developed for television by Frank Darabont. It is based on the comic book series The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard.
The series stars Andrew Lincoln as Sheriff's Deputy Rick Grimes who wakes up after being in a coma to find the world dominated by "walkers", resembling the zombies of George A. Romero's horror movies. He sets out to find his family and other survivors along the way.
The Walking Dead premiered on October 31, 2010 on the cable television channel AMC in the United States.[1] The first season premiered to wide acclaim and was nominated for several awards, including the Best Television Series Drama at the 68th Golden Globe Awards.[2] Based on its reception, AMC renewed the series for a second season of 13 episodes which premiered on October 16, 2011. Two episodes into the second season, AMC announced that the show would return for a third season.
The series has been well received by critics, and has received many award nominations, including a Writers Guild of America Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series Drama. The series has also attained strong Nielsen ratings, beating various records for a cable series, including receiving 8.1 million viewers for its mid season two premiere to become the most-watched basic cable drama telecast in history.

David Morrissey Joins The Walking Dead For Season 3

Today's Walking Dead casting news is certainly exciting, the choice of actor incredibly interesting and yet, just knowing that this character from the beloved series is most definitely on his way (and this far in advance), well, it kind of ruins finding out on our own. So, consider that a spoiler warning!

Imagine that first preview where the Governor was revealed had we not known who was playing him or that he was even coming? Well, that possibly thrilling moment has been replaced with a thrilling announcement from AMC saying that David Morrissey will play the Governor in The Walking Dead. Okay, so it's still pretty exciting.

The BAFTA nominated actor (for his turn in the BBC mini-series State of Play) will make his American television debut with what has to have been a highly sought after part. The Governor is easily one of the most despicable and interesting characters from Robert Kirkman's series. Without going into too much detail for those who have not read the acclaimed graphic novels, let's just say the Governor (or Phillip Blake) serves as a primary adversary for Rick and our group of survivors and, if they are to stay somewhat true to the chronology, his arrival also means the introduction of a few other series favorites we've yet to meet. And since I'm certainly not a devoted follower of the television adaptation (I admire some, despise some), this news does help renew my interest. Not that they need it, with the zombie thriller absolutely killing it in the ratings.

David Morrissey is an interesting choice for the role. He's a wonderful actor but somewhat less well known than would be expected for a role as juicy as the Governor. In fact, there was a time when Academy Award nominee John Hawkes' name was being tossed around as a potential candidate for the part, which, if you have ever seen the two makes Morrissey's casting all the more intriguing. The British actor (another interesting choice, especially since some people have not particularly enjoyed Andrew Lincoln's southern accent) is significantly larger and will no doubt provide a much more imposing physical threat but I'm not sure he'd be able to mach the level of sinister charisma that Hawkes can deliver (watch Martha Marcy May Marlene). But, I can't say I'm not intrigued to see Morrissey's take on the Governor (especially looking at that picture of him from the Red Riding trilogy) and, well, just how sadistic the show is willing to make him. What do you think of the casting?

Rick and Shane's Brawl

The fight we all knew was coming finally happened on Sunday night's episode of "The Walking Dead."

After Rick confronted Shane with the fact that he knew what happened to Otis, and Shane remarked that Rick couldn't keep the group safe, the two literally came to blows in the midst of leaving Randall to fend for himself.

When a wrench Shane threw at Rick went into a window, it attracted a swarm of walkers (the moment when Shane realized what he did, reflected in the glass, was one of the most amazing images in the series' short history in fact, this entire episode had some extraordinary camera work).

While Randall freed himself and fought off some walkers on his own, Rick decided to do to Shane exactly what Shane did to Otis. Shane was left in a school bus, forced to hold a door closed to fight off each walker with a knife, one by one.

But then, Rick saw two dead walkers who used to be police officers, and turned around. Like the cavalry arriving, Rick and Randall shot the walkers around the bus and rescued Shane. Rick made it clear to Shane that he had to respect his rules from now on.

Shane's biggest supporter, Andrea, had broken one rule too many, however, and was banished from the house by Maggie after she all but encouraged Maggie's sister to go through with committing suicide.

Hershel's youngest regretted her decision and will live, but it now appears there may be a reckoning for Andrea, as well as Shane (somehow I don't think this new understanding with Rick will last very long).

The show has now had two episodes in a row that have struck the right balance between suspense and pushing the story forward (and let's face it, plenty of gore as well).

Do you agree that the show is back on a roll? What do you think will happen with Andrea, and do you agree about Rick and Shane?

R.I.P Dale

[b]People being murdered by zombies on the The Walking Dead is like finding trees in a rainforest, except that when one of the integral characters, Dale, had his guts ripped open by a zombie, we were shocked!

Executive producer of the show Robert Kirkman told MTV News why they killed Veteran actor Jeffrey DeMunns character, Dales death comes at a time where hes very much needed. [Rick and the gang] are trying to make this decision on what to do with Randall. The farm is becoming increasingly dangerous. There is still tension between Rick and Shane, despite the fact that it appears that theyve put much of their differences behind them for now. They need that moral compass [in Dale], and its been taken away.

Dales death is going to impact the group deeply, especially since Carl taunted the zombie earlier in the day and is partially to blame for Dales death.

Its interesting to see Carl doing kid stuff: going out on his own, trying to prove hes strong enough to kill a zombie, proving that hes deserving of carrying a gun, Kirkman said. He instigated this whole situation. Were going to deal with his emotions and what comes from him causing Dales death to a certain extent. Thats definitely one of the big repercussions where Dales death affects these characters.

The The Walking Dead is based on a comic book, but the television series differs greatly from the comic. Dale, for instance, survived many more attacks and obstacles before finally succumbing to a zombie attack. So why would the writers decide to take Dale down so early?

One of the things we wanted to do is show how dangerous these zombies actually are, Kirkman said. We were sitting around the writers room early on in the planning of season two, and we thought, you know, there arent a lot of zombies actually succeeding in what theyre trying to do. They eat people here and there, but weve never really had a zombie actually take down one of our main characters, at least not for a while, not since the first season. We wanted to remind people how dangerous these creatures are.

Watch the video to see Dales final moments on the show before he is euthanized by Norman Reedus character.

I like it but if you could find more videos of the making of parts that would be cool. The making of the zombie in the well was really interesting.
