Release Date: September 14, 2007
Developers: EA Black Box
Publishers: Electronic Arts
Genre: Sports
Players: Single player and multiplayer.
Platforms: Ps3, Xbox 360 and Mobile Phone
Rating (ESRB): T (Teen)

Synopsis:

EA Skate is a fun skateboarding game, but hard to master. Which, in my opinion, adds to the fun! EA Skate goes for a more realistic skateboarding experience, using Next Gen gaming system's advanced controls to try and simulate skateboarding. The graphics are beautiful, the game has plenty of extra features, and if you are looking for a skateboarding simulation game, you won't be disappointed with EA Skate.

Story:

It was not the best story but it was original. The game starts out with you in the hospital due to a horrible accident, then you build your character and your out on the streets. A camera guy wants to follow you around, teach you how to skate and finally record, photograph and help you get on the cover of two magazines. You slowly meet a lot of skater from real life and do their challenges to unlock things from companys their sponsored by. One of my favorite missions was playing against Rob Dyrdek and big Black trying to tackle me all the time. It was like skating and being chase by a giant bull. The game is hard to master which is one of the most realistic parts of the game that I enjoyed. I liked it taking over 5-10 tries to master a trick to get the challenge done instead of being able to beat the game in a day like the sequels. The second and third games were made easier to master for kids.

Gameplay:

The controls for this game are the best in skate games in my opinion. The "flick" system lets you control your tricks and skating by using your analog sticks instead of the buttons. I thought this was very innovative and made the game feel more smooth and realistic. I really enjoyed the controls because of how different they were compared to Activisions games that had been ruling the skate genre. I had been playing Tony Hawk games since I was little and finally there was a better skate game to enjoy.

Graphics:

The graphics are awesome, I loved how realistic they were compared to previous skate titles and they made you feel like you were almost skating in real life. They were good back when the game came out but not that much anymore. The streets were realistic, same with the tricks, cars and people. I thought the graphics were the best I'd ever seen when the game came out so they must've been good at the time of release.

Customization:

There was a ton of options to chose for this. It was also one of my favorite feature because most of the clothes in the game were from real skate stores so I my player could wear the same style shoes and clothes as me as well as skate with the same board. There are tons of options to choose from. Clothing from almost every popular skate brand as well as boards, wheels and trucks.

Multiplayer:

There was a alright selection of modes, I didn't enjoy the multiplayer very much though because it would lag a lot. You can't play t online anymore because the servers are shut down.. It was fun to play even when you were pinned up against the vets who could never lose.

One of the best skate games I have ever played. I would suggest buying it and giving it a try. A fun game to beat multiple times. Definitely one of my favorite games ever made.

Overall Rating 9.5/10 (Overall great game, Good gameplay, controls and graphics. Story is alright but could me more original then completing challenge after challenge)

This game was great at its time, but the one question I ask.... HOW CAN YOU MAKE A SKATING GAME WHERE YOU CANT GET OFF YOUR SKATEBOARD?!?

I give it an 8!
