Hey guys with one playoff game left to play its never to early to start mocking the 2012 NFL Draft. Ill update this weekly, we can say every Wednesday and i will most likely start updating more frequently when Draft Day approaches. I'll go through the whole 1st round with who i think should be taken with the picks and with a little insight on why i mocked them where i did. Enjoy!

Round 1

1) Indianapolis Colts - Andrew Luck QB Stanford

Colts owner Jim Irsay has basically implied that he will be selecting Luck with the 1st overall pick this year, but what he plans to do with Peyton Manning is still a mystery. It will be tough to keep Peyton financially but it would be nice to have him work with Andrew Luck to even better his already outstanding skills.

Andrew Luck plays in one of the most NFL style offenses in college football at Stanford. This season wasn't as impressive as his last season but nonetheless he still put up great numbers and earned his right to be drafted #1 in this years draft.

2) St. Louis Rams - Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State

This is a tough pick to mock only because the Rams could go in many directions with this pick, with their being some depth at WR in this years draft class you could see a trade where Rams will move down to a team looking to get Robert Griffin III, they could possibly squeeze out an O-lineman with the trade as well, but i dont mock trades just yet so ill stick with this pick.

Justin Blackmon is a freakish athlete with very Calvin Johnson like ability. He demonstrated his worth in Oklahoma St.'s bowl game against Stanford where he caught 3 TD passes and he was also nursing a leg injury during that game which makes all the more impressive.Sam Bradford had a pretty horrendous year last year compared to his rookie year but that was due to a lack of weapons for him to throw to, with Blackmon the Rams are an offensive line away from contending in the always open NFC West.

3) Minnesota Vikings - Matt Kalil OT USC

If the Vikings want to have a functional offense other then Adrian Peterson they will make this pick. Christian Ponder has some potential in this league but its tough to do when your on your back constantly. Matt Kalil would improve their O-Line immediately especially on Ponder's blind side. If you give a young QB more time it will boost his confidence and help him make better decisions. This is an excellent pick for the Vikings and is taking them in the step in the right direction to attempt to contend in a very tough tough division.

4) Cleveland Browns - Robert Griffin III QB Baylor

If for some reason no team trades up to snag RGIII then this is an absolute no-brainer pick for the Browns. RGIII has emerged as college football's most interesting players in a long time. He's a freakish athlete but yet is still more of a QB then a runner, his arm is unreal with very good accuracy. I haven't seen this comparison made yet so ill be the first but i see a young Mike Vick with RGIII except a significantly better passer. In a league that is shifting towards a mobile QB league (look at Cam Newton's success) this will be a huge step in the right direction for the Browns. With this pick i think the Browns open the door to an impressive free agent class of WR's. If they can pick up a Dwayne Bowe or a Vincent Jackson or even Marques Colston i think with Griffin III they'll have an instant impact offensively.

5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Morris Claiborne CB LSU

Tampa is coming off a disappointing season to say the least, they were supposed to bea threat to at least snag a wild card spot. Now with a clean slate at the Head Coaching position they have some major changes to make on the defensive side of the ball. Aqib Talib is in danger of going to prison and it seem Ronde Barber but the finishing touches on an impressive career leaving the Buccaneers secondary a huge gap.

Morris Claiborne is the perfect guy for the job. He was overshadowed last year by Patrick Peterson and this year all the hype went to "The Honeybadger" Tyrann Mathieu, but he was probably one of the best cover defensive backs in the nation. He stays out of trouble which is what Tampa Bay could use right now so he'll fit well and i think he will have an impressive career.

6) Washington Redskins - Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M

This is what i call a no pick, im almost 100% sure that the Redskins will trade up with this pick for RGIII. The redskins absolutely need a QB so thats why i put Tannehill here, he's not top 10 talent but he's basically a placeholder for this pick. If the Redskins get a QB they will definitely be able to fend their own in the NFC East next year.

7) Jacksonville Jaguars Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame

Ive seen people mock defense here and rightfully so but the Jags have a bigger issue, Blaine Gabbert, you can't give up on him after a year where your head coach got fired mid-way and a new owner came about. Gabbert needs weapons and Michael Floyd will be the answer. Jags defense can be a little shaky at times but they had the 6th ranked defense last year, they will have to make some decisions on who stays or go's in the defensive side of the ball but it should hold up at least till next year.

Michael Floyd is an excellent receiver and is the next best after Justin Blackmon. He has very good size to go with great hands and good speed he has all the things you would like but he has had some off the field issues so as long as he can get it straight off the field the Jaguars will start to see some success.

8) Carolina Panthers - Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama

This pick is *pending* based on Kirkpatrick's off-the-field issues he has been recently charged with possession of marijuana which might make his draft stock plummet because of it, but on the field he is still a tremendous CB with a spectacular skill-set to make turnovers and hit hard. Carolina is in a pass-happy division so if they want to make a statement they have to start by getting turnovers and this guy can do it, if the Panthers can pick up a Defensive Lineman via free agency it will significantly improve their defense.

9) Miami Dolphins - Riley Reiff OT Iowa

Joe Philbin as the new head coach was definitely a + for the Dolphins. Matt Moore has been a solid QB but the O-Line has struggled this past year leaving Matt Moore open to get hit constantly. As of this past week (1/23/2012) the Dolphins have been the newest team to emerge in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes if he becomes available, but if Peyton comes here you have to give him an O-Line to protect him so this pick will be a move in the right direction regardless of Peyton's arrival.

Reiff had a great year and is a great lineman. He went up against some of the better d-lines in the NCAA and shut them down he will be a terrific asset to a struggling line and will automatically make them better from the start.

10) Buffalo Bills - Quinton Couples DE North Carolina

Buffalo looked to be the hottest team in the NFL in the first quarter of this past season but then the injuries started rolling in and it has emerged that the Bills need some help on defense.

Drafting Couples will instantly improve their D-Line, he's a relentless outside rusher bringing up comparisons to John Abraham.

11) Kansas City Chiefs - Trent Richardson RB Alabama

This pick is in no way or shape supposed to endanger Jamaal Charles starting RB job but when the chiefs made the playoffs last year they had a dual back attack with Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles and that worked tremendously. After a torn ACL Charles might take a little time to get back to his usual quick and speedy self. Till that time Trent Richardson will be the man in Kansas City.

Trent Richardson is an absolute beast and scored the first TD between Bama and LSU in the National Championship. Despite that he was an absolute animal in the backfield with tremendous power running ability. He will be a perfect ground and pound RB in this league and him and Charles in the backfield will be an excellent duo.

12) Seattle Seahawks - Devon Still DT Penn State

The Seahawks finished in the bottom 10 in sacks. A lacking pass rush, both on the exterior and interior, is their greatest issue, outside of the quarterback position. Devon Still had a fantastic 2011 campaign and is the top consensus player on the board, so this pick makes a ton of sense.

The Seahawks will improve a great deal on defense and will help the Seahawks on their pursuit to win the NFC West.

13) Arizona Cardinals - Luke Kuechly LB Boston College

The Cardinals thought they shored up their inside linebacker position when they signed Stewart Bradley to a 5-year, $25 million contract with $10 million guaranteed this offseason.

Yeah, not so much. Bradley has barely played, so he could be a cap casualty this offseason. Arizona's search for a worthy player next to Daryl Washington will end here with Luke Kuechly, who is a no-brainer as the top available talent on the board, as long as the Cardinals part ways with Stewart.

14) Dallas Cowboys - David Decastro OL Stanford

The Cowboys have major issues on the interior of their offensive line. Left guard Derrick Dockery is a free agent after missing most of 2011 with a knee injury. Center Phil Costa sucks. Right guard Montrae Holland, meanwhile, can't really be relied upon.

David DeCastro is one of the top interior linemen prospects to come along in years, and he's the highest-ranked prospect on the board. This is a perfect match.

15) Philadelphia Eagles - Kendall Wright WR Baylor

The uncertainty surrounding DeSean Jackson's contract status could prompt the Eagles to snatch the most explosive WR in the draft.

16) New York Jets - Courtney Upshaw LB Alabama

As a Jets fan i love this pick. The Jets have a lot of wholes to fill but this pick will be a step in the right direction. Courtney Upshaw plays in a pro ready Alabama defense. The Jets play a 3-4 defense under Rex Ryan and Mike Pettine so he will fit in as the outside linebacker across from Calvin Pace and the Jets will most likely part ways with Bart Scott so Upshaw can also fill that hole as well from time to time. I see nothing but upside from Courtney Upshaw he has a kind of Patrick Willis feel to him, excellent pursuit of the ball carrier and can hit your lights out. The Jets ,like the eagles, had a tough time tackling last season but Upshaw will help that out. The Jets will be able to address their other needs via later rounds and via free agency.

17) Cincinnati Bengals - Janoris Jenkins CB North Alabama

For most other teams in the NFL they probably removed Jenkins from first round contention after reading about his off the field issues. He got kicked out of Florida but the Bengals have been recently known for taking some of the troublesome players, i mean they gave Pacman Jones a lot more chances then they should have, which shows theres some desperation at the CB position.

Jenkins is an excellent corner with great ability, tremendous speed so he'll be able to keep up with the speedy receivers like Mike Wallace in the Bengals division. He is a bit on the short side so he might lose some physical battles but he should turn out very well as a corner in this league.

18) San Diego Chargers - Mark Barron SS Alabama

The Chargers had a huge hole at strong safety last offseason, and they decided to take a chance on Bob Sanders. That didn't pan out too well, so A.J. Smith will have to find another upgrade to his beleaguered secondary.

Mark Barron, whose stock has risen in the past couple of months, can now be considered the top-rated consensus prospect available who makes sense for San Diego.

19) Chicago Bears - Mike Adams OT Ohio State

Some Chicago fans may not like the idea of spending back-to-back first-round selections on offensive tackles, but that's exactly what the Packers did with Bryan Bulaga and Derek Sherrod. Ted Thompson knew that he had to protect Aaron Rodgers at all cost, and that's exactly what the Bears must do with Jay Cutler. Chicago could have made it to the Super Bowl had Cutler not gotten injured; the team was a solid 7-3 before he went down.

20) Tennessee Titans - Michael Brockers DT LSU

I believe the Titans will go d-line with this pick cause ever since getting rid of Haynesworth its been weak but since Haynesworth has been a bust so no big deal with that, but the Titans are young team that can really stand out in that division so this pick will be very good.

Brockers is an excellent linemen who really stood out in the latter part of the season. I think he will be going a lot sooner then 20 on draft day but ill save that for when i see some more out of him.

21) Cincinnati Bengals - Lamar Miller RB Miami

The Bengals have a great run-blocking offensive line. It's just a shame that they have nothing in the backfield to speak of. Cedric Benson is incredibly mediocre, and he'll be a 29-year-old free agent in March anyway.

Cincinnati is one of the few teams that targets certain positions per round, and I have to believe it wants to spend one of these first-round selections on a running back.

22) Cleveland Browns - Alshon Jefferey WR Sounth Carolina

If you asked me to name 2 receivers on the Browns i couldn't. If they do some how get RGIII at #4 w/o trading up then this will be necessary. You have to give him weapons to make plays with. RGIII made Kendall Wright a standout receiver so he'll make great use of Jefferey who doesn't have great speed but is a still a great wideout.

23) Detroit Lions - Whitney Mercilus DE Illinois

You would probably think that Detoit's D-Line is set and i would almost agree but one more pass rusher would elevate this front four from fearful to intimidating. Mercilus is an animal who led the nation in sacks this past year. He is a freakish athlete and will help out this Lions defense tremendously. The only variation with this pick i could see is if maybe if a cornerback slips this far like Kirkpatrick or someone of that magnitude but this is a best defensive player available pick for the lions who are trying to make a case for the NFC North.

24) Pittsburgh Steelers - Cordy Glenn OG Georgia

The Steelers 100% need some linemen as it seemed as though the Steelers had a tough time simply getting five healthy bodies on the offensive line at times in 2011. Glenn's size and strength make him a perfect fit at tackle or guard in their system.

25) Denver Broncos - Jerel Worthy DT Michigan St.

Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil were potent most of the second half of the season in 2011. Let's get them some more help.

While defensive back is a need, as are a few other spots, I think of another defensive lineman, this time a tackle who can attack the run and pressure the quarterback. While Jerel Worthy doesn't get many sacks, he causes them and can be a real pain for offensive linemen and quarterbacks alike.

26) Houston Texans - Dontari Poe DT Memphis

Wade Phillips already has transformed the Texans into a defensive juggernaut, but the unit still needs a bedrock in the middle to maximize its potential. Poe is an immovable force at the point of attack, and him controlling the middle will allow Brian Cushing and Demeco Ryans to flow freely to the ball.

27) New England Patriots - Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi St.

The Patriots defense hasn't been right since Richard Seymour's departure. Cox possesses the length and athleticism to thrive as a five-technique in Bill Belichick's hybrid scheme.

With this said being that this is the Pats 1st of 2 picks this year Belichick will probably trade it away for more picks next year.

28) Green Bay Packers - Nick Perry DE/OLB USC

It's not exactly an earth-shattering revelation that the Packers need help across from Clay Matthews. Erik Walden and the other rush linebackers were largely ineffective last year. Perhaps Green Bay's pass defense will improve in the wake of an upgraded pass rush.

The Packers are getting a major steal here in Nick Perry. He could easily go much higher than this.

29) Baltimore Ravens - Vontaze Burfict LB Arizona St.

Burfict is a "too perfect" fit for the Ravens and would be a great replacement for some aging talent for them.

He's very talented and plays with a real mean streak, which could hurt him and the team in terms of flags, but Uncle Ray will settle him down next year.

30) San Francisco 49er's - Mohamed Sanu WR Rutgers

The 49ers need to surround Alex Smith with more weapons in the passing game. Sanu has been a productive performer as the No.1 receiver for the Scarlet Knights, but could serve as the ideal complement opposite Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree in the 49ers system.

31) New York Giants - Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama

I think this is my 4th player ive mocked out of Alabama and there all from the defensive side of the ball. The Giants' defensive struggles during the regular season could be attributed to their lack of depth and talent at linebacker. Hightower would give the unit a big, physical presence in the interior, while improving their effectiveness against the run.

32) New England Patriots - Chase Minnifield CB Virginia

The odds of the Patriots keeping this pick are very low; some team will once again take out a second mortgage on its future with Bank Belichick to pick someone they feel is of great value. But Chase's father, Frank, played cornerback for Belichick when he was captaining the Cleveland Browns in the early 1990s, and there's no doubt the team could use more talent in the secondary.

i agree with you in some respects but there most likely not going to give up on their 1st round pick last year already so they'll try and build around him and if he cant do much in the next two years then i think he'll be out.
