8GB of ram? Thats quite a lot. I was thinking more like 4gb or 6gb max.

What about the whole DDR2/ DDR3? I'm don't know much about ram...

How can you run out of space on RAM? It's temporary storage. And most games only use about 1-2GB of ram?

I'm trying to keep it under $1000.

I haven't calculated what I have yet.

Any ideas for RAM and the motherboard? Thats all I really need to figure out.

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R (Has USB3 and SATA 6GB/s support and is good for overclocking)

Memory - I would go for something such as the Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz HyperX Memory Kit.

I would also advise swapping out the 5770 for a 1GB variant of the GTX 460
