The tenth General Discussion section debate. Rules are the same as the previous, but for new people here they are:

  • Do not flame others for their opinions.
  • Thumbs up or thumbs down other users posts if you agree or disagree respectively.

I will give a rep reward to the person with the highest amount of thumb's up, and to the answer I personally like the most, so be sure to think long and make your answer thorough, voting down does nothing.

So the question of the day: Have video games left a positive impact on the world?

Some people take video games to seriously, we all know someone (or maybe you are that someone) who doesn't have a healthy enough balance between video games and real life, but are there positive benefits that video games have brought? Simulation, testing, amusement, do these outweigh the negatives?

If you have suggestions for future topics of debate then send a PM titled "GD topic" or something along those lines.

No it hasn't.

The young population would all have so much better grades if video games were never made.

So much more athletic people.

Forty-four percent of the youth 8 to 18 also reported their friends are addicted to video games, the survey said. The average child 8 to 12 plays 13 hours of video games per week, while teens age 13 to 18 year play 14 hours of video games per week, according to the survey.

* 12- to 14-year-olds are equally as likely to play M- or AO-rated games as 15- to 17-year-olds

The world could have kept on going without video games.

P.S I'm not saying that's the case for all video game players.

I think that video games do not have a positive effect on the world.

I think this because people who spend all day on PS3 or XBOX clearly have no life. They are overweight and get no exercise, the only time they get up is when they have to go to work or school.

On the plus side, It helps companys like Sony and Microsoft become more rich!

But my personal opinon, yours may be different.

Video games are fun, I must say. But there's so much new we could be dosing with our life, I've noticed that now and quit . I still get on from time to time. But I no longer find any joy in them! I had a LOT of fun! But think about it, all it is is hate and screaming and cussing at eachother on Xbox. I hope you guys learn that it won't be fun forever but enjoy it while you can!

Im some ways yes and some ways no..

because some people are over the top playing video games espically when MW3 came out because there was people playing it all night and people were already 8th prestige so in that way NO.
In the other way yes because its fun to play games, and to talk to different types of people.

Personally I think video games help in a way that they keep people happy, occupied and off the streets as people would say. Meaning not doing things like vandalism or fighting etc which is all people seem to do where I live aha.. If I didn't have the xbox to sit and chill or talk to my friends and organise playing football, airsoft, or going out on a night out. I think I would be so bored I would be out doing stupid things, before I talked my friends into getting xbox live all we did was run around annoying people egging houses etc.. Which when you grow up you realise wasn't a good thing lol. I got rid of my xbox a while back and it was so boring not being able to talk to people or have the odd game of call of duty with my friends.. Sooo yea that's my opinion on my I think gaming is a good part of life/growing up.

Well to be honest,

no they have not because kids these days are very

overweight and unhealthy because of these games and

all they do is stay inside and play them so it`s sad

to see these people doing this so, to answer your

question, no they have left a negative impa
ct.

No i don't think it has.
2 years ago before i got xbox i was a happy 14 year old but since i got xbox it's just gone down hill for me. i failed my GCSE's never went in for my last year at school and now im stuck at home with no money or life before i had a career in Boxing and football. So in all fairness them bringing game's out has wrecked our life's but don't forget we chose our path.
Just my opinion
