HD PVR Problems

Hey guys, I just got an HD PVR from my black friday shopping for 150$! But the problem is, I'm having some problems getting it to work. When I open up TotalMedia Extreme I get a black screen even though my xbox screen is showing. Everything is plugged in correctly, I am not a derp. But after doing some searching I found out that my source is not locked, It looks like this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Does anybody know what I can do to fix this? thanks in advance.

I think your xbox has to be on 1080i, not 1080p.... try that

change the resolution on your xbox to 720p.
