Like i thought of this yesterday randomly, how did we ever get last names. We have first names which our parents think of. Did we just randomly get last names or something ?

Well no one really knows about that either. Your last name comes from your ancestors and everyone before. It's really unknown as of right now. People will have their opinions though.

Odd Coincidence.......I was thinking that the other day.

If life starts with just Adam and Eve, were do we go from there.......

Then we have kids, and it goes on, and on, and on.

But, if Adam & Eve had 1 last name, where did all of these new ones come from?

I don't think all the little boys and girls decided one day, "I'm changing my last name to Williams, Etc."

Last names came from your profession , so for instance X Trainer means they trained people. for X Farmer means they were a farmer!

People had the same first name.

So we needed a new way of naming.

Here is an example

They make them up. It's not proven but it is likely. Take Chad Ochocinco the famous football player who got drafted to the patriots ( thats not how you spell his last name it but i tried ) His original name was Chad Johnson. Since that last name is very, very, very common in the NFL he changed it. His number is 85 in NFL so instead of Johnson its now Ochocinco. Because in spanish ochocinco is 8 and 5. So generally it's most likely made up by religion or thought.

My teacher said people got their last name by which job they had.
(Back in the like 1700s I think) For example if you were a black smith your last name would be Smith. At least that's what I remember him saying.
