If I were to download the beta off of my friends account and then play it would it work? Also is it considered marketplace theft?

It's not user specified, nor is it assigned to anyone's profile. Being that it's an "Open
beta" so to speak, it's publicly accessible by anyone whom is willing to search for it. The
majority of users playing Battlefield Beta early, didn't get it from a beta code, but rather
the download as it surfaced several days ago. I haven't been banned, and I never will. You
will be fine to download it, and whatever anyone tells you - you won't be banned. Good luck.
