Just confirmed at the Tokyo Game Show during Sony's press conference, the PS Vita will go on sale in Japan on the 17th of December.

No word on when Europe and North America will get theirs.

A little snippet from 1UP:

Quote
A December 17 release date was revealed tonight, at the same 29,980 yen ($390) price for the 3G model and 24,980 yen ($325) price we had heard previously. It was noted that Sony has "received positive feedback from users" in response to the price, so it looks as if it'll stick it out rather than trying to compete with 3DS at its new low price.

It was also announced that the 3G service will work with NTT DoCoMo in Japan. A 20-hour prepaid data plan will cost 980 yen (almost $13), and a 100-hour plan will cost 4,980 yen (almost $65).

Square Enix has also committed to releasing a game for the PSV's launch with Hell's Army.
Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be a launch title, same experience on Vita as consoles and run at 60 fps
Street Fighter X Tekken will use the PS Vita touchscreen as part of the combat scheme
Final Fantasy Type-0 Dated for 12/17, Final Fantasy XIII-2 Dated for December 2011
Final Fantasy X HD remake coming Vita, as well as the PS3

Also, the PS Vita will come with free mini-games, support Facebook, Twitter and Skype.

Price:

GPB:

3G version: 279.99

WiFi Version: 229.99

USD:

3G Version: $440

WiFi Version: $430

I agree but there are some dereferences like:
Screen of Vita is much bigger (5 inch) than PSP Go (3.8 inch)
The display of Vita produces much higher resolution (960544 pixels) than PSP Go (480272 pixels)
In addition to the two analog sticks PS Vita has a multi touch pad on the rear for better interaction with the game.
PSP Go has no cameras whereas Vita is a dual camera device
Vita has much better connectivity (802.11b/g/n) while PSP Go has just 802.11b.
Vita has a faster processor than PSP Go.
PlayStation Vita has 3G network support for connectivity and Built-in GPS (only in 3G+Wi-Fi model)
