If you have photoshop installed, Open the .psd file, then click file -> Save as, then right click on the file extension when saving it.
OR, click File -> Save for Web & Devices,
Which is a better way to find out how much quality it'll still hold while saving in different file extensions.

I had the same problem. Just hit file and go down to save a web or devices.
