Do you want them to be portable? Yes
Do they need to isolate well? Yes
Is durability a big priority? Meh
Are these for gaming? If so, please specify PC or console. both
Do you have any hardware like amps or DACs that you will be using? Yes
Do you need an amp and/or DAC? No
Have you had significant experience with certain headphones in the past? No
Do you have any other relevant questions?
My price range is 100-1000 so price isnt a big deal

Music is kind of important. I'm just going to spit out a few headphones and you can do research on them. Mr. Speakers Alpha Dog (probably my favorite sub $1000 closed headphone, barring the Perfect Sound Dido D901 that I'll get to try soon), Ultrasone Edition 8, Audio Technica ESW11LTD, it'd be easier if you gave your music tastes.

JIF wrote I recently bought a pair of ATH M50s (the straight cable). I feel that the cable is too long, so I'm looking for a trustworthy site or person to mod a detachable cable port to them, maybe even daisy chain?

I've seen a couple of people online say they can do it, but the websites didn't look very reliable.

I would be doing this myself, but I don't have a soldering kit and unless I can find a good one for cheap, I'd rather not even attempt it. I also have no experience with soldering.

Edit: After looking into it some more, I may be able to do it myself. Only thing is I would need a tutorial on how to do so.

Alternatively you could braid the cable into itself: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Well I got my headphones on Tuesday, and they've had a chance to burn in a little, but they're terribly uncomfortable. I cannot wear them for more than 20 minutes. They're pressing into my ears and they've made them really sore.

They do sound and look fantastic though.

Any ideas what to do? I've listed them on HeadFi to trade them as they buyer doesn't want me to send them back - which is fair enough.

Were you able to trade them for something else?

(Also, my M100s are gone; I got an HD650 to "replace" them)

Igneous wrote I've been looking for ages , trying to work out if they're broken. And I've just managed to find a way to reset them, and now they work!

Yeah, they are under warranty anyway.

Thanks.
You're really going to talk about Beats in this post?
