I realize Beats are tabooed in this thread but what is your opinion on fake beats? You get the same sound quality for 60-90 $

Same quality as Beats is still bad. The fakes don't have a guarantee on their build (lol), and might even have recycled old drivers from thrown away headphones. (People do this with fake AKG headphones)

Fake Beats are not too hard to spot by anyone who has owned Beats either.

I'm a huge indie rock fan, so I have to ask, which one is more important? There isn't a headphone in your price range that'll work with both genres well.

If the latter, then here:

I'd pick the CAD out of the list. But if you can spend $15 more, it'd be TOTALLY worth getting this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] They're not technically great, but for some reason, I adore them with indie rock, almost as much as $700 headphones.

The Sony X headphones are re-brands on the XB900 if I'm reading the official specs right. The type of pads for the Sonys are not exactly isolating. For radio type work with bass emphasis as well check out the Beyerdynamic DT770Pro 80ohm. They're about $170, but I personally recommend an amp with them, like the FiiO E11. Which will cost around $60.
