Well, I've just spent an hour or two watching the news and it seems to be getting a bit out of control. Here's a link to the live feed: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] I'm not sure if that'll work for people in the US though.
The Metropolitan Police has just issued an update on its current operations across London.
It says 334 people have been arrested, 69 people were charged and two received cautions in connection with rioting and looting across the city - BBC Live Feed

Well done thieves, you've got London a great reputation. The current situation of looting, vandalism and violence has NOTHING to do with political beliefs, but it's all about young men and women who fancy a new TV.
I saw a report on "Reeves Furniture Store" which was over 150 years old being burnt to the ground and everything inside going up with it. There have also been many reports of hooded youths throwing projectiles E.T.C at police officers on the streets.
They've sent in the dogs, next come to horses. If the horses don't work, it may get to the point where the government has to bring the army into the equation, but at least it'll be over quickly then.
If the riots move anywhere NEAR Westminster though, it will prove both the arrogance and stupidity of these so called "Protesters" because it's the most armed place in London and guards have 24/7 clearance to shoot at any site of threatening/violent behaviour.
Another recent announcement has been that Mark Duggan, who was carrying a gun (thought to only fire blanks), was shot during a riot in Tottenham. He was a renowned drug dealer in the area and it is believed that his death has spurred on the riots in the rest of London.

Trouble in Bristol & Liverpool:
There is a riot going on at Stokes Croft right now, at 2:00 AM[GMT], in Bristol. Motivated by the wave of protests that started in London three nights ago, rioters in Bristol have also took the streets.
In Liverpool, there have been gunshots heard and many more incidents of Riot Police being attacked and having projectiles thrown at them.

Yes, it's totally likely. The riots have been reported to have started up in Scotland and Hotels have been set on fire in London.
