I am taking over skatertg's sticky do not post about this being already posted, thank you.
Here is a list of mods there are for minecraft - not including texture mods.{May include after}
Please leave feedback regarding what i should add.
I use these mods myself and i will be updating when i find other mods.
INV Edit

The program is pretty self explanatory, all you do is click on the open button and open your world then start editing! Once you are done simply save it.

That is an image of it. Pretty simple to use, instructions are in the program.

How to install;
0. Open Minecraft and switch to the default textures.
1. Download and run the latest file for your OS below.
2. If the file fields are not automatically filled in, hit the top browse button and find your minecraft.jar
3. Hit the browse button next to "Texture Pack" and find the .zip file for the texture pack you want to use.
4. Click patch.
5. When it's done, click Test Minecraft. If it doesn't work, follow the instructions at the top of this post. If it does, you can launch Minecraft normally.

How to Install:
1) Open up %appdata%, if you don't know how to do this, start>run, then type in %appdata%
2) Browse to .minecraft/bin
3) Open up minecraft.jar with WinRAR or 7zip.
4) Drag and drop the necessary files into the jar.
5) Delete the META-INF folder in the jar.
6) Run Minecraft, enjoy!

TooManyItems

Installation:
Installing TMI is pretty simple, as mods go. To clear up any confusion, though, you can't just put it into your mods folder; you have to copy the classes into your minecraft.jar. I have revamped this section as there are now dozens of tutorials out there for installing mods in general and TMI in particular. (If you use a mod manager program, please see its instructions instead!)

Instead of invedit I would go with toomanyitems, its just way more convenient.

Hey, I thought you could add this texture back, I love it so MUCH, and so do alot of people. The texture pack is called: Minecraft for kids.
