I did this, it didn't work, so I thought that I should remove the source and add it again. Now when I try and re add the source it says the thing timed out. Is the link currently down or something?

what idevice do you have?

it only works on these:

iPhone 4
iPhone 3GS
iPad 1 & 2
iTouch 3rd and 4th Gen.
