ok so this is my first time using these leds and my experiance with them so far isnt very good, i install them and boot the console and all is fine, i plug in the dvd drive and boot again and it goes straight to rrod, i take the dvd drive back out and it works fine again, my question is is there anyway to prevent this? or will i just have to solder it straight to a 12v source on the board

ye, my guess is that because it's a jasper which only runs on 150w anyway that there's not enough power to power the leds aswell, not sure but only thing i can think of atm, ill just solder it straight to a 12v source on the board tomorrow and see how it goes

i would try disconecting the DVD drive cables from the board and then making sure their in tight before soldering it to the board

I think it might be that you had the lead in the wrong way... i've done it by myself once or twice, placed the end where the wires come out for the leds into the back of the drive when they should go into the board end

now that would have been embarassing, but no it wasnt that, i think it had something to do with the dvd drive, i had it working fine on other consoles, and ive now cut the wires and soldered it to a 12v source on the board and it works fine, i did however come across a very weird problem after i finished with it, the problem was the dvd drive, it read and layed games fine but it would not eject, i tried multiple diffrent power and sata cables with no joy, i just gave up in the end and then went back to it 1 hour later and it worked again so im confused as to what actually caused it

Yeah do that, or try installing the game you want to play to your hard drive so your dvd drive doesn't have to work, that's what i do with my slim.
