The Back To Karkand DLC includes maps, vehicles and weapons from Battlefield 2, remade for Battlefield 3. EA just released 6 new screenshots from the upcoming Strike at Karkand map, from the Back to Karkand expansion pack. In addition, EA revealed that Back to Karkand will be coming this December, and will include 10 new weapons, 3 new vehicles (including the BTR-90 and the F35B jet), and a new persistence system where players complete assignments to earn their rewards. In addition, the DLC will include new dog tags and new Xbox 360 achievements/PS3 trophies.

Back to Karkand is free to everyone who bought the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3. The DLC includes 4 Battlefield 2 maps remade for Battlefield 3: Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island and Sharqi Peninsula.

Those who pre-order Battlefield 3 get a free DLC called Back To Karkand, which will feature 4 maps remade from Battlefield 2, and a series of weapons from BF2 as well. The Beta:

The Beta for Battlefield 3 opened for the MoH LE / T1 owners on the 27th of September, 2011 and for the Public on the 29th of September 2011.

The two sides available in the Beta were the United States and Russia, as in previous games.

The Battlefield 3 beta featured the Operation Metro map for all participants, while the PC testers got access to Caspian Border on the closing weekend of the beta. The beta closed on the 10th of October, 2011.

In the recent interview with Edge Magazine, Battlefield 3 multiplayer designer Lars Gustavsson revealed that the player animations are not the same in multiplayer as they are in singleplayer. Heres what Gustavsson had to say regarding player/character animations in Battlefield 3:

''In multiplayer, we do an additional pass for animation. In singleplayer, you dont mind if a guard up on a balcony does a Hollywood death stumbling around a bit before falling over. In multiplayer it needs to be a one-to-one correlation between action and result.''

Which means that animations will be more realistic in multiplayer, as weve come to know with Battlefield games. Gustavsson said that DICE was more than willing to make differences to deliver the best experience in multiplayer and singleplayer.

Battlefield 3 uses EAs ANT animation technology, which renders ultra realistic player animations. The ANT engine has been previously used in several EA Sports titles, and the recent Crysis 2 as well. The ANT engine was also used in 2010s Medal Of Honor, which DICE has some experience with, as they did the multiplayer part of that game.
