This is the farthest anyone has gotten in the Ascension Nodes. This is not my work nor my theory, just trying to advance the search by getting out the info to the TTG community.
This was done on Xbox 360 after the update which changed the Ascension picture.
The theory behind it is that when the blood stain on the centrifuge pipe (the one near the bottom floor window in the spawn room near the quick revive), the quick revive machine flashes (appears to turn off). This is true with every gun, if you want proof, then test it out, or watch it on youtube.
The players shot the bloodstains on that pipe as well as various bloodstains around the machine. After they lost their death machines, a glowing orb was found on the stairs next to the juggernog machine, supposedly only to be seen by Nikolai.
There are others who report other orbs around other machines, however I have yet to find video proof. It seems the easter egg is within completion, if someone can maybe throw a gersh into each orb and repeat the previously 8th node everytime, it may be possible to complete. I have a PS3, so I can't be of much help for now. Goodluck to anyone who attempts to finish it, don't give me credit. Just reposting information found by someone else. If this is already widely known, sorry, didn't see it.

sorry to burst your bubble, but this video must be fake. i tryed this multiple times and nobody ever saw the orbs, anywere!!

i must admit i have seen a very similar orb before near the PHD Flopper, and this can only be seen with takeo, so this may be true. Maybe theres one for each character, and each character has to do something to these orbs at the same time. Just an idea

which is very interesting actually because by flopper is where the Takeo doll is !

which is very interesting actually because by flopper is where the Takeo doll is !
this sounds like it's actually worth testing. someone test it.

ian't it wierd that the orb appears at the bottom of some stairs next to a perk machine???
no it isn't, kill a monkey next to it or throw a gersch device on it on a monkey round and see what happens
