By creating this thread, I do not endorse the usage of marijuana. I am simply getting out the facts. Do not do it is illegal.

Q: Is marijuana bad for you?
A: No marijuana is not 'bad' for you; however, smoking is, but then again smoking anything is bad for you. There are many ways to take in marijuana to make it not bad for you such as: ingestion (brownies), vaporizer, etc.

Q: Why is marijuana illegal if it's not bad for you?
A: The reason why marijuana is illegal is because when it first became illegal in the 1920's a Texas senator said that Mexicans were taking this drug and it made them crazy killers. (Of course I am paraphrasing but that's pretty much what happened.) Many myths came about saying that it can kill you, makes you go insane, and such. And back then there were no scientific studies about the drug. That is why now there is a big push to legalize cannabis.

Q: How many marijuana-related deaths are there annually?
A: There have been no recorded deaths directly related to marijuana. Here is a chart of all of the causes deaths including marijuana.

Tobacco - 435,000
Poor Diet and Physical Inactivity 365,000
Alcohol - 85,000
Microbial Agents - 75,000
Toxic Agents - 55,000
Motor Vehicle Crashes - 26,347
Adverse Reactions to Prescription Drugs - 32,000
Suicide - 30,622
Incidents Involving Firearms - 29,000
Homicide - 20,308
Sexual Behaviors - 20,000
All Illicit Drug Use, Direct and Indirect - 17,0001
Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs Such As Aspirin - 7,600
Marijuana - 0

Q: How addicting is marijuana?
A: Marijuana is not that addicting at all. Here's a few doctoral studies/opinions on the addictiveness of it.

marijuana contains 158 carcinogens. 20 more than a normal tobacco cigarette.

Carcinogens cause cancer . therefore marijuana = Bad

Incorrect:
People who smoke marijuana do not appear to be at increased risk for developing lung cancer, new research suggests.

While a clear increase in cancer risk was seen among cigarette smokers in the study, no such association was seen for regular cannabis users.

Even very heavy, long-term marijuana users who had smoked more than 22,000 joints over a lifetime seemed to have no greater risk than infrequent marijuana users or nonusers.

The findings surprised the studys researchers, who expected to see an increase in cancer among people who smoked marijuana regularly in their youth.

We know that there are as many or more carcinogens and co-carcinogens in marijuana smoke as in cigarettes, researcher Donald Tashkin, MD, of UCLAs David Geffen School of Medicine tells WebMD. But we did not find any evidence for an increase in cancer risk for even heavy marijuana smoking. Carcinogens are substances that cause cancer.

Tashkin presented the findings today at The American Thoracic Societys 102nd International Conference, held in San Diego.

Lol where did you get that info from? Just because marijuana has more chemicals in it does not mean it is more cancerous.

And that addiction chart is false. Marijuana does not meet the medical criteria to be called addicting at all. Just because people say they want to get high doesn't make them dependent on weed.

Drug talk isn't really allowed on TTG, most topics like this normally get closed, just a heads up.
