Here is a lil post i put together, because i see people on TTG and other forums ask what to do with old pcs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Network Media Server
You can turn an old pc into a network media server to host your music and videocollection on instead of having it spread across multiple PCs. Im kinda partial to linux so i have a link to a guide i found. i take no credit for it.

2) Another suggestion is to install Linux on it, Linux is my favorite OS. The most
"user-friendly" version of linux is Ubuntu. Ubuntu Linux is free, you can get it at [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . You may also find smaller versions of linux that are extremely light such as Damn Small Linux weighing in at 50mb. Linux is very flexible, and will run smoothly even on older systems, give it a go!.

3) Turn it into a minecraft server, for those who play it atleast. Its pretty simple, all you have to do is go to the minecraft site and download the server version, and setup the correct ports, admins, and ur set to go. I am actually running a minecraft server for me and my friends where i am the admin and control everything.. Be sure to keep everything secure, not to open uneeded ports, keep everything private.
here is a video to learn how to setup a minecraft server, i do not take any credit once again: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

4) You can always turn you PC into a fish tank!. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

5) You could always donate it to a good cause. To less fortunate people.

6) You can stip it for parts like removing the ram, the Hard drive(s), and other components you may have to use them in a later pc build so save money on some parts.

7) If u dont want to do anything stated above, you could always call your local recycling center and dispose of it responsibly.. lol

8 ) You can use it to take out any bent up anger and let it free on the helpless computer lol

9) Upgrade it to a gaming PC!. Plain and Simple.

10) use it at a high tech footstool!
