The Jimi Hendrix Eperience

What would modern music today be without guitar legend, Jimi Hendrix? If the guitar legend never existed, and none of his followers existed- how would that have impacted society in the 1960's all the way to today's society? Many MILLIONS of people will argue that Jimi Hendrix is a godly like figure to music, and sculpted today's rock and roll with his insane guitar solo's. His dedication toward his music, his job, and his passion made him perhaps one of the biggest characters in the 1960's, having now sold hundreds of millions of cd's/dvd's , and also influencing many millions of young people - as well as older people - with his gut-dropping, head-spinning guitar shredding.

Jimi Hendrix, born in 1942, would soon change the way rock'n'roll is looked at. Jimi Hendrix as a child was raised in Seattle, Washington and had a rough life; sometimes he'd have to live with relatives, and even acquaintances at times. When Jimi was 12 years old, he got his very first electric guitar- which would take over the next 16 years of his life. Jimi would play the guitar from time to time, as a hobby. It wasn't until Jimi turned 15 years old when he took serious interest in music and playing the guitar- it was also about this time when his mother, Lucinda Hendrix, passed away. Jimi Hendrix as a child was popular and was very friendly. When Jimi was 16 years of age, he was kicked out of school for holding a white girls hand in class. He then realized school wasn't for him and moved on.

Shortly after getting kicked out of school, he joined a teenage rock'n'roll band. Jimi played in the band for a little bit until he turned 17 years old. When Jimi turned 17 years old, he voluntarily joined the Army. Jimi trained at Fort Ord in California to become a paratrooper. Even as a soldier for the U.S. Army, he would still find time for his passion of playing music, and even started a band- The King Casuals. He was enlisted in the military for one year, when he was then dismissed due to an injury. Afterwords, he persued his career in music. This decision he made will change his world, and the rest of the worlds lives forever.

Just out of the military, Jimi Hendrix decides he will follow him dreams and become a musician. Hendrix and his Army buddy, Billy Cox then established their band, "The Casuals". They played together for a short time and then later broke up. Jimi Hendrix did a little of jumping around, playing for numerous bands, and either leaving them or getting evicted. Later on, in 1966, Jimi started going by the name of Jimmy James to avoid the public. He then formed yet another band, The Blue Flame. Hendrix and his newly discovered band would go on to play at many places in New York. Hendrix, befriended once again, left the band and, with a little help, formed another band.

Early in 1966, with the help of Chas Chandler, Jimi Hendrix forms his final band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The Jimi Hendrix Experience would soon become a band that everyone is familiar with, even deaf people! Respect and admiration from people all around the world was instantaneous, everyone knew the name Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix became a living legend within a short period of time, and everything about music would soon be focused about him. The Jimi Hendrix Experience toured all over Europe, shattering attendance records everywhere they would go, one club after another. In 1967, the band released their first single, "Hey Joe" which became an instant hit in Great Britain; and following "Hey Joe" came many other great singles, including their most popular, "Purple Haze". Jimi Hendrix quickly became a rock'n'roll superstar, receiving much attention from the media, fans, and wannabees all around the world.

In 1969, The Jimi Hendrix Experience breaks up. The splitting up of The Hendrix Experience was due to disagreements between Hendrix and the band manager. However, after The Hendrix Experience departed, Jimi Hendrix tempted to start yet another band. Hendrix was under pressure from "Black Power" to start an all black band and play for just African American audiences. The band that Hendrix shortly afterwords started would become known as the Band of Gypsies. Hendrix started this band with an old buddy from the Army, Billy Cox. As hard as Hendrix, Cox, and the other band members tried, the band never really took off. Hendrix started working on a new album for the band to release, First Rays of the New Rising Sun. Unfortunately, Band of Gypsies was short lived, and was rudely interrupted by death. Jimi Hendrix did not get to finish his project of releasing his new album, as for which he was pronounced dead on September 18th, 1970.

The death of the rock'n'roll legend was very sudden, unexpected, and heart breaking. Jimi Hendrix, the legend himself- the man who shaped rock'n'roll with his beastly guitar skills, and nasty guitar solo's- died from drug-related complications. No one really knows how the legend died. There are rumors that his manager drugged him and then drowned him with red whine, and then there is the more believed rumor that he died of suffocation of his vomit due to barbiturate intoxication. There are also accusations that his demise was of his own fault and he killed himself, because the night before he died, he had taken 9 sleeping pills that were prescribed to him, so he very well may have planned his death and committed suicide. The first on the scene of Jimi's death, was his long-term girlfriend, Monika Dannemann, who was also accused of killing him. It is unsure to this day how this legend died, but he will never be forgotten.

What would modern music today be without guitar legend, Jimi Hendrix? Well, after doing much research, it is very obvious that music we know today would not be the same. Jimi Hendrix completely changed the way music was played, and basically reformed what rock'n'roll was. Without Jimi Hendrix, many musicians today would not have been inspired and followed their dreams like Jimi Hendrix did. This legend may have died 40 years ago, but his legacy lives on. Still inspiring many young guitarists and songwritters today, Jimi Hendrix will never really die; He shall live on for many centuries to come. Thank you, Mr. Jimi Hendrix. I'm the one that has to die when it's time for me to die, so let me live my life, the way I want to - Jimi Hendrix.

I simply don't adore him because his music is rubbish! Like every other rock/ heavy metal band out there.
