Sounds like a bad flash/update. Did you use Xell to update or lpt/usb flasher?

If you cannot boot Xell anymore, you will need to repair by hooking up lpt or usb flasher..

It could just be a bad flash or it could have overheated.

If it doesn't get rid of the rings after all of that you might have to get it reballed

you can reset the chip in the system and it will work for another week intil you will have to do it again.
Do this by taking off the HDD, etc.(everything cept the actual Xbox) Next, keep it plugged in, but wrap it will towels and leave it there for 15 mins(it should be hot!) Take it out of the towels turn it off. Let it sit there for 5 or so mins to cool down. Then put your HDD, etc back on and try and start!! Hope this works! There a few vids on Youtube about this if you need!

Don't do that ever! It will wreck your xbox. Simply reflash with lpt or usb flasher.
