You MUST have the latest Freeboot 0.04 for the 12611 dash, if you have done this update and your avatar does not show, and it says you need an update when attempting to access the avatar editor, then follow these instructions:
1: Download the official Microsoft 12611 Dash Update [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
2: Get a USB flash drive and format it to FAT32
3: Extract the downloaded file to the root of your flash drive
4: Plug your flash drive into your 360
5: Power on your 360
6: You will be prompted to update, say Yes
Once the update is finished and you reboot, the issue should be fixed and avatars should now properly display, and you should be able to create and edit avatars.
I know a lot of people may be apprehensive about applying an official Microsoft update to their Jtag, but the reason this works is because its not really updating the kernel, its just grabbing some needed files from the update to correct the issue with the avatars. It is safe to do and will not remove your Jtag hack (AGAIN THIS IS ONLY TRUE IF YOU HAVE THE LATEST FREEBOOT 0.04 12611 DASH) If you do not or are unsure, do not do this update.
