Ok so recently my anti-virus software flagged up a file called something along the lines of MicrosoftWindowsUpdate.exe and naturally I allowed it. It then came up with an error message with a code of letters and numbers, sadly I can't actually remember what the message itself was. The options it gave were "Cancel", "Try Again" or "Continue" and I chose "Cancel". Then it told me for some reason a file from my system32 folder had been deleted and it restarted my computer.

Now I have a boot failure just after the login screen on both normal mode and safe mode and I have tried various F8 functions such as running with the last successful boot settings etc.

After a while of researching on this computer (I'm using my desktop to type this) I have concluded that my laptop's problem is to do with the OS and I need to re-install windows 7.

However, my laptop doesn't appear to have a Windows 7 disc with it (I nearly mistook the system recovery disc for it lol glad I didn't)

Where or how can I get the Windows 7 installation disc?

P.S. I already found how to use the disc without reformatting the hard drive so I should be able to keep some files after the re-installation

Just restore your Computer with the Windows 7 Disc & Re-install Windows Again.

usually if you press upgrade during installation, it saves all your old files. so later you can access them.

PM me if your still having trouble.

download a win7 copy from thepiratebay(.)com, burn it onto a CD and reinstall it on your laptop.
After that you have to use an activation tool (crack) to activate your win7 copy.

I hope that helped

If your computer has Windows 7 already installed (windows 7 is built into the computer) then you should do a HDD format as this will get rid of EVERYTHING and it will also get rid of any viruses.

And when you start up your computer again Windows should load up normally, but research before you do anything.

No because it's not malware causing the problem. after it goes through the boot failure onscreen instructions it leaves me with a black screen that have the words "Safe Mode" in each corner and after a while of leaving it on that screen, McAfee pops up like it would on a working computer saying my computer is at risk. I did a full scan on that and nothing came up. I have also tried running safe mode with networking and managed to get a browser up through the help options on McAfee but I don't want to risk doing anything on that browser tbh

Well., just do what the other person said, Download a Copy of Windows 7.

Burn it to a Blank DVD Disc (4.7 GB preferred),

Wait for it to finish burning to the DVD Disc.

once it's done.

Insert the Windows 7 Disc You Just Finished Burning,

Then, Before Your PC Boots up to Windows Screen,

Press F2 on your keyboard & Boot From DVD Drive,

Just Install Windows or If you backed up your data,

you can restore to an early System Restore Point which the PC Had worked Fine with.
