So i was recently playing Black Ops, and my online Multiplayer matches ceased to load for me, as a result I had to dashboard at least 4 times before I came to the conclusion that something was  up with the disk. Upon taking it out, and after a close inspection, the disk had this big scratch ring right around the edge of the it, and it's unknown to me as to how I got it.

The game has either been in its case or in the Xbox, it was never left in any environment that could harm it or scratch it, and the main point of my question is: Could the Xbox 360 have scratched the disk itself, from overuse? This is the only conclusion i have come to and i frankly cannot think of any other way in which the disk could haveve been scratched. Any help?

TL;DR: Is it possible for the Xbox 360 to scratch a disk from Overuse?

Note: Sorry if this is in the wrong section, i don't frequent other forums other than Halo Reach/CoD, if it is in the wrong place could a Mod move it to the appropriate section. Thanks, and all help appreciated.
