You will be ban for boosting, but only if it's unlegit. That's the short story of this thread.

There's global stats , which is reason enough to ban you, and because you have unfair advantage over others.

There is also the individual information recorded to your online profile and game history with stats and players. Even if you're not on b.net as a user, bungie can still track your history, and they always find the people they're after. They have trackers, don't be fooled. Trackers find games played with repeated opponents (controller boosters, you will be found) and they track out games ended with the same stats.

It's against terms of service and rules to exploit a glitch in a game, so don't do it.
Legit: Gruntpocalypse, checkpoint resetting, cutscene boosting. (That stuff was all put in by bungie, and it's there to stay. Bungie has confirmed you won't be ban or reset for this).

Unlegit: Controller boosting: Its been against the rules since Halo 2.
Challenge/commendation resetting: Network manipulation. Bungie and Microsoft will come after your account for this.
