Listen to this and this and see if you can spot the difference in the extremes of content -

Drill - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Grime - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

The lyrical content alone is a defining factor - more drill

Soundsystem Culture (West Indian Immigration to USA) -> Hip Hop -> Gangsta Rap -> Trap (Atlanta) -> Drill (Chicago)

Soundsystem Culture (West Indian immigration to UK) -> Jungle/D&B -> Garage/2 Step -> Sublow -> Grime

Obviously there is more nuance than that.

Seriously unless you're lyrically deaf you can hear the difference main lyrical focus of a drill song, "44's cheffing people, opp's" vs grime "no 44's, no cheffing, not really gang opp focused".

Plus the fact that most of the grime beats are faster. (the vast majority, legit just google drill and google grime the difference is blatant)
