A Ryzen 1600 would require a motherboard upgrade as well because your current motherboard is an LGA 1151 socket and the Ryzen is an AM4 socket, which requires a different motherboard.
The 8600k would be a good upgrade for the system but your stock cooling setup and motherboard probably wouldn't make the most of an unlocked processor. As well if you're looking to do an upgrade in the future I'd recommend buying a quality Power supply as the ones in prebuilts are typically junk. A decent supply will run you $35-60 and give you some piece of mind that your computer won't implode at random because of a faulty/poor supply.
