So for my bday on Friday my dad bought me this 1300FPS .177 Air Rifle with these really good pellets and i used it and man its smooth. i wanted to hunt rabbit or birds. i just don't know how to lure them or where to go and where they'll be. i have 0 hunting experience but i do often shoot rifles at the range, I just moved out of the city and into medina valley... about 10 miles from San Antonio and its nothing but flat land and very hot weather. i dont know if that helps but im sure environment plays a role on where they keep shelter i just dont know where to find them... anyways please help me out here if you have any experience. thanks!!

Bird hunting is tedious and you need to make sure whatever bird you are shooting is legal to shoot and if they are a bird for hunting, make sure it's in season. If you happened to kill a state bird or bird not in season, you could be caught with a HEFTY fine.
Same for Rabbit. In my state, we have a rabbit season as well so make sure you check if you are good to go and your state doesn't require a small game license. (I doubt it but make sure)
Bird hunting like I said is tedious and your best bet if finding some open power lines to just sit under (kind of hidden) and remain still. Us hunters think it's morally wrong to shoot a bird as it's sitting still. It's called unfair game. When the bird takes flight, fire away.
I don't go rabbit hunting very often, but walking slowly through thicker wooded areas or taller fields are your best bet.
