Before the freezing started, what exactly did you change.

Definitely sounds like your game files have become corrupted..

If you have the disc, i'd reburn a fresh copy of mw2 to the hdd and retry with fresh files.. or try and undo what you've done.

When you go to dashlaunch what do your plugins say.

What menu are you trying?

Yes only freezing when I refresh the list of games to connect to, although last night it kept freezing when I booted it up on the xbox logo animation

This will only happen if your plugins are not loaded successfully.

If the animation around the xbox logo still moves, then its the plugins.

If the console does a glitchy movement and then freezes or freezes while booting the animation, then it would be a issue with the hardware.
