Hello!

I am a total noob at PC gaming parts, and I wanted to have a new one. This one is 3.5 years old, and I'm not really happy about AMD now that I discovered Nvidia graphics cards and stuff. I wasn't really aware of the actual PC gaming world untill now.

I have no maximum budget. All I want is a very good gaming PC. I want to max out very heavy games like Attila total war and battlefield 1 with atleast 80 fps. I also want the PC to be a bit less loud. So you can still enjoy the sound of the game itself.

If you guys have any suggestions or feedback please do comment. I'm always open to criticism.

Thank you considering reading this.

Ps: Sorry for grammar mistakes, English is not my mothertongue.

How about trying again?

What is your budget and currency? (Pound sign does not work normally, use GBP abbreviation)
Do you need a monitor?
Do you need a keyboard?
Do you need a mouse?
Do you need an operating system?
What will you use the PC for?

We know you'll be playing games and that you want it to be silent but without a budget and currency we can't recommend a build for you.

Also if you could give us the specs from your last PC then we could possibly salvage parts from it to use in a new one?

Hello thank you for the fast answer. And I do understand.

My budget is 4000 euros. I do not mind to go 500 euros higher if needed. So maximum 4500 euros.

I do need a new monitor yes. I'm thinking of a 144 hz from Asus.

I already got a keyboard and mouse.

If I understand operating system properly, then I would like windows instead of Mac.

I will use the PC for gaming and recording (YouTube), not for streaming.

My current PC specs are the following:

Processor: Intel Core i7-2600 CPU, @ 3.40 GHz

12 GB RAM

That are all the specs I could actually find. If it is not enough, please do tell me and I'll gladly update the post.

Thank you for willing to help me.

RAM and CPU aren't really what you're looking to re-use. You could potentially re-use storage, and maybe case/PSU so if you could download Speccy and post a screenshot for us, that would be helpful. Also if you could tell us both the make and model of your case and PSU. Otherwise we'll just have to suggest a whole new system.

What games specifically will you be playing?

Where are you located? Euros covers a lot of places so we need to know if you're buying in Germany, France, Spain, etc?

Lastly, could you tell us what keyboard and mouse you have? 4000-4500 is quite a substantial budget so if you're current kb/mouse are sub par, I'd definitely recommend upgrading those as well now, whilst you're upgrading everything else and have the money anyway.

Those are my specs.

I will be playing Holdfast: Nations at War which is a new game. Also high demanding 1st person shooters like battlefield 1. Also heavy total war games like attila.

I'm located in Belgium.

I have a logitech keyboard G510 and a Logitech gaming mouse G502 Proteus. My mouse really fits well. Could use an other keyboard as this one is also a bit older.

SLI support so you can add a 2nd 1080Ti at any point. You can swap the R5 1600 for an R7 1700 if you want. You could definitely save money in some places, like case and motherboard, if you want to.

That's a really nice setup.

Is the Ryzen 7 1800x also compatible with the Gtx 1080 Ti SLI?

Also what does SLI actually mean cause I have seen the term a lot of times but I don't really understand it.

Don't get an R7 1800x. It's not worth the premium over the 1700.

SLI is Nvidia's multi-GPU technology, so that you can run two NVidia GPUs as a single output. So, two 1080Ti's in parralel for better performance than a single 1080Ti.

Alright nice thanks a lot for the information

What is the general difference between the Ryzen 7 1700x and 1800x if I may ask?

Don't get a 1700x either. Get the R7 1700 if anything. However, the R5 1600 is likely more than adequate for you. The only way you'll benefit from the R7 over Ryzen 5 is if you're doing a lot of editing/streaming, every day.

The only difference between the R7 1700 and the R7 1700x is that the 1700x has slightly higher clock speeds(100MHz) out of the box and doesn't come with an included cooler. Overclock an R7 1700 to 4GHz and you've got yourself an 1800x for less than 75% of the cost of an 1800x.
