I did not assault him due to witnesses.

Please don't go into any profession where they give you a gun.

But if you insist then you just need to ask them. Whether they will let you in or not depends on the severity of the crime.
If you told them the story you just told us I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't let you back in.

its hard to explain but he has given me a statement because he told me the police forced him to say things. I understand how you must feel since you don't know but I'm honestly not a bad person, I just lost it and have had to pay for it for a while and perhaps the rest of my life. I didn't mean because of witnesses it's hard to explain

It depends if it was a felony charge which abduction usually is class five felony which can be really serious, that isn't a joke.

Most likely, they will disqualify you from joining due to the nature of the arrest and charge.
You can try to get the charge expunged but i doubt that will happen.

You can however after 5 years apply again, that is if you are not arrested within that time.

I'll accept that, you don't need to explain yourself to me.
Everyone loses it every now and again, I certainly have, but your propensity for 'losing it' is something which isn't changed just by wanting to change.

I'd take into consideration the possibility that you don't have the kind of mindset needed to be in a position where other people's lives are in your hands.
What happens if you lose it at the wrong place and time on a mission?

Changing your goals is a lot easier than changing your temperament.

Of course you don't have to take this advice, but I would assume that they will say no and take the five years to really try to improve your control over yourself.
Then re-apply when you know you're ready.
