"Youre a cis male". Ok before I say anything, I know what cis means if you dont know what cis means it means that you identify as the gender you were assigned at birth ie sane.

Now in dictionary definition "cis" seems harmless however I ONLY and I mean ONLY ever hear "cis" used as an insult... Im so sick of labels but I understand why we have them. I think if we were to give labels to the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of people it should be a term that isnt used in a negative connotation such as "cis". I would say I idtentify as a heterosexual male and just about every straight girl I know they identify as a heterosexual female. I dont see whats wrong or complicated about referring to someone as hetero instead of "cis".

I dont want to make this rant a wall of text because I want people to actually respond and read this so ill leave it at that. I would be glad to discuss this in comments.

Also sidenote it makes me very uncomfortable hearing "cis" because it reminds me of the words "cyst" implying some how that generally speaking white "cis" "cyst" males are some kinda of disease. Im friends with a few feministy girls (they are cute I promise) and I remember hearing one of them use it in that kind of way and it really put me off.

whats the issue? ever used gay as an insult? ******. loser. Whats the difference? I am sure insults you have used have made people uncomfortable.

I agree its a stupid word since it literally just means your normal. I am a cis white male, other wise known as (normal white male). I guess they just wanted a word because they need a word for everything.

I should clarify, used as an insult during conversation. As if being called a "cis" male is somehow bad. Have I ever used gay as an insult, no not really. Unless you call joking around with friends and saying a video game is "gay" then no. Ive never once in my life called a gay person gay and meant for it to be harmful.

Pretty sure cysts aren't a disease. I've had 1 in my throat which was removed and now I am fine. Even then I was still fine with the cysts

I agree with you to the extent that I think this word was used a lot more derogatorily in the past than it is now.
I see a lot of people on both the left and right using this word because it is a useful word in the political climate today.
If you're talking about a story which involves transgender people it can be useful to use the phrase 'cis males' as a means of clarifying yourself.

I agree that this word is used a lot by far left types who use someone's 'cis-ness' as a way of putting them down and trying to make them stop talking about transgender issues, and yes, this is an annoying trend which needs to stop but probably won't.
