Currently have
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I want to change some stuff so I can run anything on ultra 60fps, probably 1080p.

I have a £1000 budget for both the GPU, CPU, RAM and a new MOBO.

I dont really follow hardware so I just want to know what is the best for my budget

Thanks

Probably best to give full details of your specs so people can ensure that the components they recommend are compatible with the rest of your system.

I mean for £1000 you would probably be better off just building an entirely new computer. Unless you really like your case, power supply, and hard drives.

Storage should be re-used regardless tbh.

OP- Need to know the make and model of your case and PSU before we can do anything. Also, what CPU cooler are you using? Your 2500k is still a perfectly fine CPU, and it'll definitely last you another couple of weeks so at least wait for Ryzen benchmarks before you upgrade your CPU. As for GPU, I'm assuming it's an R9 290(x) you have? If so, that GPU is still perfectly fine for 1080p, I'd upgrade monitor before GPU, if that is a 290(x) you have. If it's something like a 4GB 270(x), then yeah, GPU upgrade wouldn't go amiss.

Yeah no real reason to upgrade other than to add a new SSD maybe and a better cooler. i5-2500k and R9 290 are still perfectly fine for playing at 1080p. Overclock the 2500k if you haven't already, you might want to invest in a new cooler for this.

So, first upgrade I'd do(after CPU cooler and SSD maybe), is new monitor. The 290 will still let you play at 1440p pretty comfortably so you could get a nice 1440p monitor maybe. I'd hold on to the 290 at least until the 1080Ti and/or Vega release. Ryzen is so close at this point that upgrading from your 2500k would be a huge mistake. Maybe an upgrade to Ryzen 6 core or 8 core could be a good shout, but we'll need to wait and see benchmarks.

I'd probably get this;

No reason not to overclock really, right? It's not that hard as long as you're aware of what you're doing, and it'll give you better performance. This should help a bit;

It'll at least last you a while. If your doing something where your CPU specifically is holding you back, then a CPU upgrade wouldn't be a bad choice, but Ryzen is going to be available in stores on March 2nd, so definitely wait for those benchmarks.
