So I am currently building a decently high end system, check the link below to view it.

I am reaching the last few final decisions to make for this rig and cannot decide a quality monitor.
I am stuck between a ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q 27" 2560x1440 and LG 34UC79G-B 34-Inch 2560x1080, both are IPS panels and both are 144hz native.

Here are the specs for each monitor, so you dont have to search them your self.

LG 34UC79G

    Pros
  • 34 inch 21:9 ultrawide curved IPS gaming monitor
  • AMD FreeSync
  • 1ms motion Blur reduction
  • 144Hz refresh rate

    Cons
  • I have a GTX series card so the freesync is pointless
  • 1080p, Not really too much of a con for me considering I am shooting for overkill FPS but I could for sure own the 1440p area

ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q

    Pros
  • 1440p IPS Panel
  • 165hz with G-Sync so my card can take advantage of the it
  • Eyecare

    Cons
  • Not a ultrawide or curved screen
  • Cost around the same as the ultrawide although it is because of the resolution upgrade.

Just wondering if anyone has any input or advice they would like to give me. This is my first PC build ever, also I have never experienced anything above 60hz so i really would like to stop being on the bottom.

I just recently got a dual monitor setup and its amazing, great for productivity. I don't game much on my pc but I'd assume it'd be nice to tab out on another monitor while gaming.

Update, changed the thread to my current dilemma with the monitor, I will either get 2 27's or a single 34.

Are you just trying to waste money? GTX 1080 isn't worth the premium over a 1070. $100 for a 2TB HDD? What's the 500GB m.2 SSD for, and why do you have a 2nd smaller SSD? $120 for RAM is too much. NZXT Kraken X61 is a little cheaper than the H115i and is a better cooler. Why are you buying a network adaptor? You know you connect your ethernet cable to the motherboard, right? An optical drive, in 2017?

On to monitors, 2560x1080 is not 1080p. 2560x1080 at 34" will look ridiculous.

3440x1440 for a lower price than that 2560x1080 monitor.

1440p 165Hz G-Sync for $400, steal IMO and this is one I'd be considering for sure.

All that being said, you could spend around $200 for this;

and OC it to 96-120Hz pretty easily. No G-Sync though.

Or lastly, you could easily save $400 or so on the system by just not wasting money, and get this;

3440x1440, 100Hz, and G-Sync.

Or you could just understand the fact that I already purchased my 1080 and got it for $540.
The ram? Got it for $90
The network adapter? for $7 (was kinda pointless but dont really care)
My 250gb SSD is for OS, sony vegas, cs6 and other programs Also purchased it for $75
My 500gb SSD is for the games I play the most that are the most demanding. Hence faster level loading, and games I play have taken a long time on waiting screens.
My 2tb is for everything else.

Oh yeah, forgot to read your mind.

Vaya wrote The ram? Got it for $90

Again, totally my bad for not reading your mind.

It's not "kinda pointless", it's entirely pointless. Just a waste of $7.

Vaya wrote My 500gb SSD is for the games I play the most that are the most demanding. Hence faster level loading, and games I play have taken a long time on waiting screens.

Huuuuge waste of money. You literally won't notice any difference between a normal SSD and an NVMe SSD for this use case. Should've just got a 500GB or 1TB 850 EVO instead of a 960 EVO and 850 EVO.

Vaya wrote My 2tb is for everything else.

$100 for 2TB is still over-priced. You can get a 2TB HDD for almost half that price.
