I made a post yesterday but I found the problem but Comcast is trying to tell the Thursday is earliest day they can send a tech out here to replace my cable box.

My real problem is with my router. I am connected to the wifi on all my devices but there is absolutely no internet.
Does anyone know how or what I can do to fix this?

+rep for help and will gift gold to whoever can fix (if you can)

I am really in need of internet.

A little trick that could work works(att and charter) change your wifi band signal from 2.4?/5.0.

If anything go on your PC or laptop, into network and devices, change adapter settings, select your primary use (wifi if that is what is) properties then hit configure go to bandwidth and switch the signal to 20mhz only > or go with stock 20_40.

It might work it might not

Try this.

1.Right-mouse click on the WiFi icon
2. Open Network and Sharing Center
3. Change Adapter Settings
4. Right click on your adapter, Settings
5. Uncheck the box marked "Internet Protocol Version 6...", OK, exit, etc...
6. Restart Windows

A little back story to what happen is my electric went out the whole neighbor hood did. Now my cable box is fried but my wifi is working just no internet connection. I don't think it is because of the cable box. I will try those suggestions when I get home from work.

A little while ago I had a similar problem and the tech guy told me to do some ipconfig in cmd. It worked like a charm but it was so long ago and I have no clue about that stuff. It's just very frustrating them telling me they can't do anything about it until Thursday. Then they will try and charge me for a bunch of stuff. That's how Comcast works in the city I live in.

ipconfig /release & /renew? Likely the only thing they usually tell anyone

Not having a working cable box could be your problem. I'm saying this because i'm in the exact same boat as you right now. Not sure how Comcast works, but with the company I use, the router is connected to the main cable box and without the cable box it won't work. These past couple weeks i've been getting some really heavy rain and it leaked in through the window and damage the main box and now the internet doesn't work at all. Like yours, it connects just fine, but it won't let me access anything that requires internet.

I'm 90% sure your correct. I posted on Facebook and someone that actually works for the one near me said to come in Monday morning and they will exchange boxes. That's how my modem/router works though. It is connected to my cable box. The cable box turns on light flickers and shuts off immediately. Thanks everyone for the help I will keep you guys updated on if it works or not Monday morning.
