So as a little hobby I was thinking about creating a forum. Nothing too big, just for a few friends to share ideas/talk.
I remember looking into myBB a few years back.

I have no experience with coding in ANY language. So I'm pretty nooby. I'd be able to pick up the basics but that's about it.
Is myBB quite straight forward when it comes to creating a forum and is there any other things I should take into consideration?
All replied appreciated.

MyBB is the best of the 3 (comparing XenForo and IPB). You do not need much knowledge in coding at all. It is pretty straight forward. You just gotta know how to set up a database using PHPmyAdmin (which isn't even programming) and that is a piece of cake. If you need help, feel free to PM me.

What makes you say MyBB is the best of the three? Out of curiosity..

Personal preference, but for something that is free it definitely would the better choice unless you want to spend money.

MyBB is far by the most superior, when I first started I used it and it was great. I still use it even with good knowledge with html and such.

If you want some help hmu.

Yeah, downloaded the files already. Just looking at some tutorials, looks pretty basic. A few things are a bit confusing though. Ill get there.

Adding on to this. MyBB is very simple. XenForo and IPB can be a hassle to set up sometimes and MyBBs general user interface is far superior compared to the 2. Yet the 2 might seem more modern and up to date, I would still prefer MyBB.

I'd argue they're all fairly trivial to set up.. I always thought MyBB's interface looked absolutely horrible!

I'll go against the norm and say Xenforo is the way to go. I have a board with 10k+ users, and Xenforo held up pretty well, even when we had 1.5 mill unique visitors a month.

I prefer it because it's pretty much all done in PHP and segmented across a lot of scripts, making adjustments pretty easy to do.

But if you don't have a handle on PHP or if you are just looking for a hobby, i'd go with phpBB or myBB.
