Title says it all, I'm thinking about messing around with a dying light save editor as well as borderlands but I don't want to be banned. Help appreciated

No, VAC isn't even on those games.

VAC is only on games created by Valve.

completely wrong. Don't answer questions if you are guessing, you just spread misinformation. VAC is enabled in over 300 games and is enabled in dying light. It isn't only valve games. call of duty uses it as well.
TO answer OP's questions, as long as the game isn't running and you aren't injecting anything into the memory you should be fine. If it is just a value editor I wouldn't be too concerned with it. If you do get vac banned on dyling light it won't affect other games.

Just don't inject any DLLs or run any modification software along side your game.
