No. Don't spend $100 on RAM. If you already have 8GB now, it'll be fine. Or just add another of the same kit. Also, I wouldn't spend so much on a PSU. I didn't check but I'm sure it's the 850W G2 you chose? Stellar quality unit but 750W would be more than enough for SLI GTX 1070s, so I'd get a 650W or 750W G2 instead.

Oh, and get a 525GB MX300 SSD instead. Its around the same price but is much better.

As for ram tbh man I don't even know what brand it is it's got a sticker on it saying (2x4gb) 1600mhz ddr3 Intel nothing more. Very cheap ram prolly the insignia ram that best buy sells themselves. And yes it was the 850w EVGA g2 lol damn your good. But everything else is somewhat decent like the motherboard and stuff? I mean it's not 7 teraflop PC but it's decent?

Only thing i would add is to change the cpu cooler, if your not looking to spend a lot on an AIO cooler, then the Cryorig H5 Ultimate is a great cooler for the money

And i would go with the 850W power supply, thats just me, rather have the extra room for OC's on CPU & SLI GPU OC's

He already has a cooler. He doesn't have the RAM, PSU, or storage yet. It's much easier to change a component that hasn't already bought. The 850W PSU is a waste of money. A 650W unit would be adequate for SLI GTX 1070s. Also overclocking doesn't use anywhere near as much power as you think, because 850W is absolutely not necessary.

OP - Stick with the G2 unit, but grab a 650W or 750W unit. 750W is giving yourself plenty headroom, but 650W would suffice. It doesn't matter what RAM you have now, it's compatible, and 8GB is still fine, do not spend $100 just to get another 8GB RAM, it's a huge waste of money. I thought you already have the monitor? I'm a little confused as to what you're looking to do tbh. What components have you already got, and what's your budget/currency to upgrade?

I don't exactly have a budget I'm just upgrading as I get the money so rn I have a fully built working PC but no SSD in it
Thermaltake urban s21 cyberpower PC edition
Gigabyte z97x SLI Mobo
I5 4690k CPU
Hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler
8gb 1600mhz ram
Gtx 970 EVGA ssc edition
Rock soul 500w 80+ bronze
Toshiba 1TB 5600/RPM HDD
Lg optical disc drive dunno which one.

I am basically looking to make my PC better I had a h81m matx Mobo and I wanted to OC the last post I posted on here was when I got the CPU cooler and motherboard. So all I would be needing to change is my PSU HDD SSD GPU and you said not to go with more RAM so that's off the list. The current HDD I have has an isolated virus on it and is pretty old so I'd like to swap it before it craps on me. The SSD to me is a must for gaming the AAA games like gears 4 bf1 GTA 5. There will be times where I play and im driving fast as hell and the map doesn't load I fall through the map and it crashes. And I know it's not my GTX 970 doing that. And yes I do have a monitor I have the Samsung 32in curved 1080 60hz monitor in white I forgot the model number but it's really nice for being 1080p I noticed a huge difference from using a 4k TV even in color depth and the smoothness of it.

Btw still never got my headset working I found that an error code 10 could be a registry error so I went into regedit and edited the media GUID like Microsoft said to do and it still didn't fix my issue so I'm assuming it's the headset itself.

Yeah cool, that's what I thought. Just got a little confused as to what components you already had lol. The cooler isn't great but it'll do the job, for now at least. Everything else you already have is fine, apart from the PSU. So I'd add an SSD asap, and then replace that PSU as soon as you can with a 650G2 or 750G2. Instead of grabbing a 1070, you could maybe find a 2nd GTX 970 on the cheap and run it in SLI. 650W would be plenty for SLI 970s, and they'll perform similarly to a single GTX 1070. However your single 970 should be fine for now. Especially since you're only gaming at 1080p. Honestly upgrading from your 970 would be stupid with that monitor. I've been wanting to replace my 970 but even if I had the cash, I couldn't justify it since I'm only running a 2560x1080 monitor. I'd at least wait for next gen GPUs before an upgrade tbh. Or as I said, 2nd 970 could be a good shout. I've seen 970s pop up for sale for $120-$150 occasionally.

On some subreddits, ebay, craiglist ads. I see them pop up in the UK hecka cheap constantly. I definitely wouldn't spend more than $180-200 for a GTX 970 though.
