I've been looking to build a rig for quite some time now. My original plan was to build a pretty high end gaming PC which then turned into a gaming/streaming/video editing rig; which now I'm just leaning more towards video editing and streaming with MINOR gaming.

Now like I said, I'm fairly new to this, I know basics like what components work with each other, etc... I'm just not too aware of what will be reliable and future proof for what I'm trying to do. Things like: do I need an i5 vs i7 6700K vs i7 6800K.

All in all I'll be editing 1080p videos for the time being, I'd like to do 4K editing once they make a capture card that can do that off of the Xbox (also thinking ahead for the Scorpio) and streaming in 1080p and 60fps. Would also like most AAA titles to run in 1080p at 60fps at medium to high settings but this isn't a must.

My budget: So I kind of have two different budgets, if you have time I'd prefer suggestions for both numbers. If not just shoot somewhere in the middle. $800 and $1300.

If you guys could make me a couple part lists in those price ranges that would be awesome. Side Note: I used to work at Best Buy and saw brands like "CyberPowerPC" and "iBuyPower". It didn't seem like those were too overpriced, when I tried to go out and build one spec for spec, it usually only ended up being $75-$125 more for them pre-built by those companies. Wondering what your thoughts on one of those were as well.

I guarantee you won't get a half decent pre-built from Best Buy. Micro Center is the only place I've seen that has semi-decent pre-built systems on sale.

For editing 1080p footage and playing games at 1080p, you don't need to spend anywhere near $1300. You haven't given us enough information to work with, so I'm assuming you already have peripherals.

13's right. However, as you have the extra money you may want to get a bigger/better SSD, a aftermarket cooler and/or a case which you really like. If you have the money for nothing else then this is a $1300 one. I'll do the 800 later.

This is for if you''re overclocking. If you're not you can save quite a lot by getting a H110M or B150M, a cheaper cooler, and a 6500.

He's planning on doing light editing and gaming at medium-high settings at 1080p. What I suggested is overkill for that. An i3-6100 and GTX 1050Ti would do the job for him. Also, he said he'd be mostly editing with "MINOR" gaming, so an i7 and RX 480 would be wiser than an i5 and GTX 1070.

The larger SSD isn't a bad shout but might not be necessary. I forgot those Seasonic Gold rated PSUs were only $60, so I'd probably get that instead of the PSU in the parts list I suggested.
