Hello, I'm not sure if I actually ever made a post looking for exhaust for my truck.. I own a 1999 F-150 5.4l v8 and it has a stock exhaust. I would really love to get it dualed but I don't know anything about mufflers. I would most likely want a shop to do it. But, what should I ask for? What's a good setup?

I was nervous about being TOO Loud like a 16 year old. I just want it to sound gooooooood.. and if it can have a noticeable rumble just idling that would be the dream..

So yeah i guess I just don't know what to look for.. or how much it would cost? If you know a rough estimate that would be awesome so I could save a little side cash to go for it..

Are you wanting to run a true dual or a Y pipe to make it look like you have dual exhaust? I think a Flowmaster 40 series would be good for a dual exhaust on a 5.4L.

On my '97 F-150, I was charged $100 to cut my old muffler out and weld a new one in, + the amount of the muffler. All said and done I was at $200.

If you ran a true dual exhaust you'll need two mufflers. They are about $80 online, so you're looking at $160 just for the mufflers. You could also move the muffler way forward and run a Y pipe right off the muffler, the Y pipe will run you anywhere from $20-$100+ depending on the brand and pipe style you want. Alternatively, you could run a single in dual out muffler which will also cost about $80 + the cost of pipe.

The cheapest way to do it would be to get the single in dual out muffler, as said that'll cost you about $80. You'll need more exhaust pipe, a 36" section of 3.5" pipe will run you about $28, and you'll need at least 3 of them so now you're at $155. Add in $100 to cut out your muffler and weld in the new one and you're at $255. Add in welding in the new pipe and you're looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of $350 IF no bending needs to be done but I am willing to be that bending will need to be done. I would say it's safe to assume you'll be looking at $450-$500 when all is said and done, maybe a little more.

Amazing response as usual. Safe to say at least the 500$ then. And just pay whatever is extra after that. Does that give a good sound? I don't usually live videos due to the sound not coming out like it should..

I'm not sure on a dual, but I know on a single in single out exhaust, the Flowmaster super 44 sounds good on a 5.4L. It's not all that loud, but it gives it the "truck sound".
