If a check engine light comes on, then it gets cleared with a reader and doesn't come back on is it dealt with?

It was something about the 2nd cylinder on my girlfriends car and we put seafoam in the gas tank to clean the fuel injectors. That may have been the issue and it now may be resolved. So, thats all I'm wondering..

Well if you looked up the code and done the things necessary to fix the problem, then yes. But on some occasions if you clear it, it could take a good amount of miles before it pops up again.

I'm assuming you know what the ECU was flagging up since you were able to clear the code. What exactly in the second cylinder? What was the description.

if you looked it up and cleared it usually itll come right back or soon if it is still a problem but sometimes they can come on and go away, if you cleaned it up maybe its good, but wanna either do a compression check on all the cylinders if its either low or maybe missfiring, if its cylinder problems

It all depends. If it's something small like an evap leak, it might take a few hundred miles for it to come back (provided the issue is not fixed). If it's something major, it could come on the second you clear it. Some cars take a minimum of 50 miles to re-confirm a cleared code. Your check engine light might be off, however it could also have that code tripped again under "pending", waiting for you to drive the 50 miles before it trips the light again or before it gets fixed.

Also, I wouldn't put seafoam in anything other than a 2 stroke motor.

This is illegal, and you also will not pass a safety inspection if your area requires one.

I like this idea, one of my college lecturers has a bit of black tape over his check engine light. You can barely see it haha
